Frequently Asked Questions

How do I qualify for one of your grants? The OGE Foundation provides grants only to 501(c)3 charities as determined by the Internal Revenue Service. Please review the Grant Guidelines section to determine if your organization or project is aligned with the priority areas typically funded by the OGE Energy Corp. Foundation. Also, grant applications must be completed by the designated deadlines for consideration at each of the Board's quarterly meetings.

What is the average size of an OGE Energy Corp. Foundation grant? The grant amounts funded vary widely, depending on the strength of the application and on the resources of the Foundation. However, most of the Foundation's grants to a single charity are between $500 and $5,000.

What are the deadlines for submitting applications? To be reviewed by Foundation staff and Board for possible funding during the next scheduled quarterly Board meeting of the year, applications should be submitted no later than 5 p.m. (Central Time) on any of the following dates:
--March 15, 2009
--June 15, 2009
--September 15, 2009
--December 15, 2009

When do you accept applications?  Applications may be submitted at any time, but they will not be considered for funding until the end of each quarter.

How do I submit an application?  Please mail requests to OGE Energy Corp Foundation, PO BOX 321, MC 1100, Oklahoma City, OK 73101

Once an application is submitted, how long does it take to go through the review process and to find out if we will receive funding? The Foundation Board will review applications on a quarterly basis, and we anticipate informing applicants of their status within 30 days of the end of each quarter. For example, an application submitted on March 1st will be reviewed during the March 15th cycle and the applicant should receive notification of any funding by April 15th.

Does the OGE Energy Corp. Foundation provide support to private foundations? No, we directly support only 501(c)3 agencies.

Will my nonprofit receive the amount requested? Not necessarily. The grant amount may be reduced based on the strength of the application or on Foundation funds available at that time.

We have not yet received notification from the IRS that we are a 501(c)3 organization. Can we still apply while that is pending? No. Applicants must have a letter of 501 (c)3 status from the IRS at the time of application.

I received a cash grant from you earlier this year. Am I eligible to receive another grant for a different project? Yes, you may apply for funding for multiple projects.
