OG&E employees are celebrating the remarkable life and legacy of service of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with our annual MLK Week of Service.

Dr. King said: “Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve.” Public service is a core value at OG&E and one way we live out the value is by volunteering in the communities we serve. We can all carry forward Dr. King’s message of unity, service, and love by getting involved and giving back.

The highlight of the week each year is OG&E employees reading to first graders. For 2024, we will read to first-grade classrooms at 30 schools in 13 cities across Oklahoma and Arkansas.

The 2024 MLK Week of Service began with William Sultemeier, OG&E’s general counsel and chief compliance officer, reading Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School students in Oklahoma City. The book – “Martin's Big Words: The Life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” – details the impact of Rosa Parks and King, Jr., teaching students that anyone can be great and stand up for their rights.

OG&E donated copies of the book to each classroom so students and teachers can pass down Dr. King’s important legacy for years to come.

OG&E employees will honor the life and legacy of Dr. King, by joining Oklahoma City's annual MLK Jr. Holiday Parade.
