Stay Safe While Working Outside

Keep electrical safety in mind before digging or starting construction. These steps make locating lines easy, so you and everyone around you can stay safe.

Oklahoma Residents

Contact Call Okie at 811 or 800-522-6543. You can also submit a request online. Provide some quick information, and then Call Okie will notify the Oklahoma One-Call members in your area that you will soon be digging. They will mark the location of their lines within 48 hours. This is a free service.

Arkansas Residents

Contact the Arkansas One Call System at 811 or 800-482-8998, or submit a request online. After you answer a few quick questions, AOC will contact multiple utilities. Your lines should be located within 48 hours. There is no charge for this service.

Tips for Digging Safely

  • Call 48 hours in advance if at all possible.
  • Respect the marks. Leave at least 1 ½ feet on each side of the marked areas.
  • Dig carefully. Most underground conductors are 40 inches below grade, but construction, erosion, and landscaping can cause the depth to change. Use a hand shovel until you identify the conductor. You should find red barrier tape with black letters in the sand backfill about 6-8 inches over the conductor.
