Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company (OG&E) has established this website in accordance with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Subtitle D regulations for the management of Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) generated by electrical utilities. This rule, effective October 19, 2015, is codified under Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 257, Criteria for Classification of Solid Waste Disposal Facilities and Practices, Subpart D – Standards for the Disposal of Coal Combustion Residuals in Landfills and Surface Impoundments. The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) adopted the EPA CCR rule and codified these requirements within Oklahoma Administrative Code (OAC) 252, Chapter 517, Disposal of Coal Combustion Residuals from Electric Utilities, effective September 15, 2016.

On March 2, 2020, OG&E received approval of the final closure certification for the CCR impoundment located at Muskogee Generating Station from Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality. As a result, this facility no longer has the reporting requirements of the fugitive dust plan, ground water monitoring and annual reports associated with operating a CCR regulated impoundment.
The OG&E Sooner and River Valley facilities do not operate or manage any CCR regulated units as defined by the EPA or the ODEQ (e.g., CCR regulated impoundments or landfills).
