OG&E announces lower fuel charge for customers
May 1, 2024

Good news! Your monthly electric bill will be lower this summer. The price of natural gas has gone down, so we are lowering the fuel charge, which is the cost of fuel used to generate electricity for you and is part of your monthly electric bill.*

The average residential customer bill will be $25 lower this summer compared to last summer because of the lower fuel charge and depending on energy usage. Before this adjustment, about 30% of your electric bill was for fuel. With this change, the fuel charge will now be about 20% of your electric bill.

When the price of natural gas goes down the cost to generate electricity also goes down and you pay less for electricity. We always try to buy fuel at the lowest price to help you save money.

Twice a year the Oklahoma Corporation Commission reviews the fuel adjustment factor that is part of your monthly electric bill. And, this is the second time we’ve reduced the fuel charge in the last six months. You may recall that we reduced the fuel charge last November.

The new fuel charge goes into effect May 1, and you will begin to see the lower price on your June bill. If you want to learn more, please visit our website at OGE.com/fuel. We also have programs to help you save even more energy and money. You can learn about them at OGE.com/efficiency

*Seasonal fuel adjustments do not apply to customers enrolled in the Guaranteed Flat Bill program. GFB customers can see savings from fuel adjustments at the time of their next enrollment period, should they choose to re-enroll.
